Working with the Family Support Center at Brock’s alma mater, Clarence High School, we supported a licensed mental health counselor who led a seminar to students in person and simultaneously to the entire student body. She discussed the importance of seeking help and communicating with others during mental health challenges. With additional support from our community, we provide funding for one-on-one mental health counseling appointments for individuals who are uninsured or underinsured.
Working with Niagara University’s Health and Counseling Services, we sponsored a kick-off event and a month of wellness activities and support. We provided a training session to assist students with peer-to-peer support. Spoke with teams about mental health /suicide prevention and provided a certified mental performance consultant to work with these teams.
Training 8th-grade students at
Buffalo United Charter School on health coping strategies, mental health, and suicide prevention. An incredibly sad fact is that suicide is the 2nd leading cause of death for 10-14-year-olds. Supporting each other is essential.
Walked with students on the Arizona State University campus in Tempe, Arizona, in support of the American Federation for Suicide Prevention.
