The Need

Mental Health

Young adults aged 18-25 years had the highest prevalence of Serious Mental Illness   ( SMI) (11.4%). This age group often faces unique challenges and stressors, which can contribute to mental health issues. More females seek treatment than males. Seeking help is a sign of strength.

  National Institute of Mental Health

Destigmatize

By destigmatizing mental health and illness, we encourage people to seek help when they need it. The lack of awareness or stigma surrounding mental health issues, makes it difficult for young males to seek help. Encourage open conversations about mental well-being and the importance of seeking help when needed. You are not alone, there is hope and  you are loved.

Suicide Prevention

Per the CDC, the suicide rate among males in 2021 was approximately four times higher than the rate among females. Males make up 50% of the population but nearly 80% of suicides. Develop peer support programs and safe spaces where young men can share their experiences and seek support from their peers.

Nature/Exercise

Nature/Exercise

The combination of physical activity and being in nature is recognized as providing a range of significant benefits.  Group nature activities can foster social connections, reducing feelings of isolation.  Nature can serve as a distraction from distressing symptoms, offering a break from the challenges of mental illness.. Get outside., go for a walk , a hike , a bike ride or a run.
